This indigo sashiko sampler is a pre-printed panel, ready for you to stitch. The Seigaiha (青海波) sashiko pattern translates literally to "blue ocean waves" and represents layered, overlapping concentric arches that form stylized waves. The gentle, repetitive design evokes the quiet motion of a peaceful sea. Because ocean waves continuously move forward and return, the motif symbolizes perseverance, strength, and the cyclical nature of life.

As a traditional kisshōmonyō (lucky omen pattern), it carries a wish for endless happiness, good luck, and a calm, abundant life to reverberate far into the future. 

Made and printed in Japan on 100% cotton with water-soluble ink, the guide marks wash away after your stitching is complete.
