Fundo (meaning 'weight') Tsunagi (meaning 'link') is a traditional Japanese Sashiko pattern. The design and the name come from the shape of traditional weights used on scales in Japan. It's created using simple running stitches from continuous, fluid curves or lines on a grid, which can be stitched in long, continuous lines for efficiency.
Fundo Tsunagi symbolises resilience and beauty in imperfection, much like the art of Kintsugi.
Create stunning patterns with this precision-cut 4" sashiko template.
The unique marking system on our Indigo Niche Templates allows you to easily mark fabric for stitching.
Our Fundo Tsunagi Sashiko Template is available in 2 different materials:
Mylar:
Acrylic: Our Acrylic Templates are made of 2 millimetre thick, transparent acrylic material, similar to patchwork rulers. These templates are quite solid and do not have any movement or flex to them. Due to this they are a little more delicate and if dropped could crack. If using our acrylic material template a Sewline or Bohin ceramic pencil is best as they fit perfectly through the very fine stitch marking cut outs in the template.
