Sashiko Classes, Travel and Quilt Shows -

Its been a while since I've done a blog - mainly because I've been doing quite a lot of travelling.  After AQC in Melbourne I got a leave pass from my business partner to spend 4 weeks with some girl friends travelling through France and again explore the beauty of Italy.  Paris was everything I had heard about and more.   After Paris we spent time in the Northern Lakes of Italy visiting the beautiful towns of Stressa and Lake Garda.   What a stunning part of the world.  We travelled by train from Paris to Italy.     What a relaxing way to travel  - passing through the beautiful hills of Switzerland taking in the breath taking scenery. After a brief visit to Budapest and Prague it was onto Perth for our first Perth Quilt Show.  I did arrive one day late for my husbands 60th birthday who met me there.  After a very successful Perth Show Colleen took a week out of our schedule to visit the Margaret River district and was taken with the beauty of the area.  She was also very impressed with the amount of Wineries in the area and managed to send home quite a few cartons of W.A wines.  I however took another week away from work to visit  Ayres Rock and Alice Springs.  What a stunning place.  I would recommend it to everyone.    There's not so much of that red dirt that I expected to see at the moment.    The countryside is flourishing after all the recent rains.

We've since  been to Sydney for the Sydney Quilt Show.

We have just started our next round of Sashiko Classes  helping the ladies in Toowoomba and Brisbane put together their quilt of sashiko pieces they've been busily working on over the last couple of months.

We are very pleased to see the progress all the students have made in producing many pieces of Sashiko to combine into their quilt.  There was such a diverse range of works produced.  We're eagerly waiting to see the finished projects at the next round of classes.

We are busily getting ready for the  Townsville Craft and Sewing Show at the Townsville Entertainment and Convention Centre from 14th - 17th July.  Last year was our first visit to Townsville and we are looking forward to again meeting all the people of Townsville.  We have a lot of new products for them to see this year.

After we return from the Melbourne Quilt Show July 28th - 31st July, we will again do the Toowoomba and Brisbane Sashiko classes before again heading to Rockhampton, Childers and Gin Gin to see what wonderful ideas they've come up with for their Sashiko Quilts.  We look forward to posting photos of many of the finished quilts  on the blog in the coming months.

We look forward to seeing all the quilters and craft people in the Townsville area next week end.

Cheers

Sue and Colleen
